LOVE IN THE TIMES OF WAR

“You see, it’ll be disgraceful on my part to disregard the powerful beauty in you, to the divinity in you if I take myself as a winner”.

She didn’t look up and he, the person who has won the war, kept looking at the submissive eyes.  Submissive yet so strong; delicate yet so powerful; a women of divinity; a woman of power.

No, its not he who won the game. He has won the war but lost the game. It’s she, who has actually won the game by losing the battle, …………….she has won his heart, something she has no idea about. He wishes to tell her about this, but not this way, some other time, somewhere else and probably not holding a weapon.

Lost and won. War and peace………….his mind started jumping rapidly over so many issues……….He has to think fast and decide quickly, before his army arrives………..before he announces the fate of this small tribal war against the small group lead by this marvelous lady………..He can declare himself a winner, can be the ruler of this beautiful place and the magnificent lady can be his.

But……….what will he get out of this? Anything, but her heart. It’s not only her. This will break the heart of all the innocent people living in this isolated island. He can imagine the troubles, tragedies and fate of the kingdom under a foreign ruler. And he still has time to decide. It’s only him who can decide the fate of the people of this place……………and fate of his heart .

He could not look at her any more. Her silence is conveying a lots of messages , and all these are making him feel more and more vulnerable every passing minutes. He is the one to bring trouble to this happy people, to this happy land. NO. He can’t wait for her silence to hate him. He can’t bear her hating him. He has to be quick.

He called up his messenger.

“Just convey this message to the king that we lost our way amidst mountains towards the small tribal kingdom and couldn’t reach there”.

He took one last glance at her and the beautiful place before turning away. No, she won’t be his. He has already decided to leave this tribal kingdom as silently and swiftly as possible with the confidence of his battalion. Yes, they obey his every word. Nobody would ever ask him why he has left this kingdom after winning it with so much fighting.

He can’t tell anyone about the precious thing he has left behind. That’s his heart! Maybe, someday he will come again to take it back from her! To look at those eyes, to search poetry over there. Or, may be to take her along with him.
